I purchased groceries in Ambika Apalam depot Adyar on 17.4.21 via sale bill no.1637 today . No.1, 3rd cross street, Kasturba nagar, Adyar, Chennai 600020.
The items are more in numbers and unable to carry by bare hand. Requested a carry bag and they charged Rs.8 for a hopeless disposable carry bag worth not even 2 rs. Thought govt has put a rule that carry bag should not be charged for customers buying things..it seems many shops are not following and mint profit on charging 400 % profit on bags. Moreover when pointed out the mistake of overcharging for bags, the shop supervisor, counter staff and biling staffs all started fighting rudely with me for raising the issue. I felt ashamed of entered into Ambika Appalam Depot Adyar and shopping with them. Such a rude behaviour of staffs and they never had soft behaviour. Once again concerned govt authorities should send circulars and notification regarding not to charge for carry bags in any shops in India for consumers.

@ NK: We are not aware of any such rule which bans shops from charging customers for carry bags. On the contrary, there was earlier a rule that carry bags should not be given free of cost. However, this rule has now been removed. The whole idea is to stop using poly bags. If the shop has charged you for carry bags that carry their shop name / brand logo then you can raise a valid dispute.
