I recently moved to Bangalore in September 2024 to join my new office. On the recommendation of a friend I got in touch with a salesperson from Colive PG, regarding a single-sharing room in the Overland Colive PG at Green Glen Layout.
Promised Rent: The advertised rent for the room was ?18,000, but Mxxxxxu assured me that he could offer the same room for ?14,000 with a ?2,000 discount, and he further promised to secure an additional ?2,000 discount with management approval.
Payment Breakdown: I paid the following amounts in good faith: ?14,000 for rent + ?14,000 as a security deposit + ?2,000 for registration fees, This total of ?30,000 was paid via UPI transfer, with the payment link shared by his colleague, @Nxxxxr Jxxxxa.
* Move-in Date: I was scheduled to move in on 1st September 2024. I explicitly confirmed with Mxxxxu that I would be staying for one month only and was assured that I would receive the full refund of the ?14,000 deposit at the end of my stay, with no deductions. Despite several follow-ups, I noticed that my payment had not been updated correctly in the Colive system. The system was reflecting an incorrect rent balance of ?16,000 (the official rent) instead of the ?14,000 I had paid. This discrepancy prevented me from raising my notice period and getting a resolution. Mxxxxu continued to assure me that the system would be updated and that everything would be sorted out in the backend, allowing me to leave by 30th September 2024 without issue. He even confirmed this via email from his official Colive email address, I have now received a legal notice from Colive, demanding that I pay an additional ?32,000 in overdue rent, along with a ?50,000 penalty. I immediately contacted Colive’s customer care, where they requested me to share the screenshots of my communication, which I promptly did. I even reached out to Colive’s CEO/Founder, on LinkedIn.
