How to identify whether your BSNL SIM is 4G enabled
BSNL is in the process of rolling out 4G network and services gradually across the country. It will also roll out 4G and 5G compatible OTA and universal SIM platform which will enable subscribers to choose their mobile numbers as well as replace SIMs without geographical restrictions.
Presently, BSNL 4G services are available in Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, UP West, Haryana circle and some parts of Southern India. The Union telecom minister earlier this month said that BSNL will install 80,000 towers for 4G services by the end of October and the remaining 21,000 by March 2025.
BSNL has been issuing 4G enabled SIMs in the last 3-4 years. Many might have already replaced their old SIM to 4G or purchased a new 4G SIM. However, for old customers who are no sure whether their SIM is 4G enabled or not, how to identify whether their SIM is 4G enabled. Here are some ways that will help them identify 4G SIM.
1. BSNL 4G SIMs normally come 4G printed on the SIM.
2. 4G SIM are nano SIMs that come with adaptors
3. Wherever 4G services are available, and if 4G SIM is in use, the handset will display 4G besides the network bar on the handset.
4. If you are in doubt, go to handset settings>SIM connections and manually search for mobile networks. If 4G SIM is in use and 4G services are available then the handset will display BSNL 4G in the available networks. Otherwise it will show only 3G.
