I booked & provided adhar card for Char Dham Yatra my family (12 members). The tour was May 2025. Booking was done 4 months in advance as per agreed terms. The total tour cost per person was ?58,000 + 5% GST. Total cost of the tour (including GST): ?7,30,800.
I paid an advance of ?30,000 on 1st December 2024 via UPI and received a receipt from the agency for the payment.
Due to family issues (health concerns and my wife securing a job after 1+ year of unemployment), I had to cancel the tour. As per the agreed policy, I informed the agency about cancellation and requested a refund on 17th February 2025 (about 2.5 months before the tour start date).
The agency initially demanded ?43,080 before canceling my booking. This amount was 10% of the total cost (?7,30,800) minus my advance (?30,000). When I objected, they removed GST from the calculation and now demand ?39,600 instead. There was no prior mention of charging 10% of the total amount for cancellation. The final confirmation document, mentions a 10% retention fee but did not define what “retention fee” means.
Now, the agency is claiming internally that retention fee = total tour cost, which was never agreed upon.
Request for Help. I request your assistance in getting my advance payment back. Attached are the final tour confirmation document and the payment receipt from the agency.
