I purchased a portion of land with a small house on it from a person who had purchased 5 other portions from the original owners. in 2017. The present owner recorded in my Sale Deed, that there are no pending bills/taxes to my portion. Since then I have diligently paid every monthly bill generated by BESCOM as per the meter in my portion. There were 6 meters in the premises under the same name, including the portion purchased by me. Due to personal constraints, I was unable to change the meter to my name. In 2018, the present owner surrounded the 5 meters to BESCOM. There was a surge in my bills, which I paid, as the BESCOM meter-reader claimed this to be part of the change in the manner of meter-reading. All this while, the portion was unoccupied till 2021. In Nov.2020, BESCOM deducted Rs.20,994/- without any break-up of amounts. Repeated complaints (written & verbal), visits to the BESCOM office & Consumer Grievance Redressal Forum, have not yielded any result. I have cause to believe that the 5 other portions with the electric meters under the same name, had several months of pending unpaid bills. This amount must have been added to my meter, as it has the same name (though the meter numbers are different). This could have happened only by the collusion of BESCOM staff. I want 20,994/- reimbursed to me with interest and stringent action against all the culprits.
