Regarding refund from Booking.com for booking at Zululand Hotel, Goa.

My friend and I had made a booking at ‘Zulu Land cottages – near Curlies beach shack and shiva valley , Anjuna Beach, Anjuna, 403509, Goa, India.  The booking was for the dates 25th March 2024 (Monday) to 29th March 2024 (Thursday). We were contacted by the hotel to make a 50% advance payment which was 5000 INR to the hotel owner,. We gpayed him the amount.
We had booked the hotel through the online booking service Booking.com, at the time of the booking, the website had mentioned that we can make a fully free cancellation 24hrs prior to the time of check in (which was 1pm on 25th March).
Due to some personal issues, we couldn’t take the trip and had to cancel the booking on 23rd March, according to the guidelines of Booking.com we were eligible for a full refund of the amount.
We contacted the hotel owner for the refund, he was very rude and asked us to contact Booking.com for the refund. We put up a complaint in the customer care section of the Booking.com app and requested for a refund. We received a mail from Booking.com confirming that we will receive a refund from the hotel in some days. We contacted the hotel again to ask for a timeline for the refund, he was very disrespectful and said that they will not refund the money at any cost.
This feels like a fraud because booking.com under false advertisment and claims mentioned that the hotel provides free cancellation whereas neither booking.com nor the hotel is helping us with a refund.
I request you to please contact me and help us with the refund, I’m ready to pay if theres a minimum cancellation fee, but I should receive a free cancellation according to the claims of Booking.com.  (I’m not able to attach more than one images – please contact)
